I am the poet! 8 MAY AT THE BATTERSEA ARTS CENTRE! REMIX What happens if you bring the very best young creatives from literature, fashion, theatre, music, design, and digital arts together, give them four months, endless contacts and £1000? REMIX happens, that’s what. REMIX is all about collaboration, innovation and adaptation beyond conventional forms. It’s 21st century multi-disciplinary performance for the iPod-listening, blog-writing, Vogue-reading, blog-writing, YouTube-watching generation. REMIX will bring together a creative team of exciting emerging practitioners who have asserted themselves as innovators in their own forms, but, who have never created a piece of theatre before. You might call them theatre virgins. Then, again, you might not. We’re uniting the fiercest fashion designer and one gnarly graphic artist to work in design, a banging band to sound design, a poet to adapt their work into a play, as well as an emerging photographer and filmmaker. Together with Natalie Ibu as Director and an ensemble of professional, recently trained actors, we will create not just one, hell no… five versions of the play. Ambitious? Yes. Adventurous? This is my Ideas Tap funded spoken word event collaboration with DEAN ATTA and Time Won't Wait and is really, really exciting. Merging theatre with spoken word and making the poetry scene sit up and listen, this night gives the top young talent in the country the chance to be heard and get their opinions on socially-engaged subjects out there.
